nament of the year went much better than expected. Early weather reports had temperatures forecasted to be in the low 30's with rain, but Rebel decided to fish anyway. It was a good thing they did because although the morning was chilly, the fishing was hot. It seemed like the fish were not too picky about what they wanted to eat. However, the fish were not everywhere. Either you were on them good or you were going to have a long day. The water was pretty off colored and there was very little hydrilla, although coontail was thick in spots.
Everyone who fished seemed to have a good time. The weigh in was fun as usual, and the Tournament Director only dropped one fish this time! Although 1/2 the group weighed in limits, but no real giants. Last week in practice one of the members did catch a fish over 9lbs.
Ron Carter edged out Matt Houston by less than 2/10 of a lb. and Shawn Carusella was right behind them. Debbie Hunter was first among the ladies and 4th overall. Jesse Robles had big bass and 5th place, and Big John Brown rounded out the top 6 with a strong effort. (He also had to fish with Sundown all day long so he probably should have been given a bonus!)
It ended up being a great day on the water, with Sunny skies and lots of hungry bass (one big catfish!!!)
