Falcon1 2010

WINDY !! WINDY!! WINDY!!

Well it was another typical February tournament at Falcon.  Friday brought winds from the North at 23mph and gusts up to 31mph.  Sure made it difficult to get excited about pre-fishing.  You were better off in the hotel room taking a nap or enjoying a cold one at Falcon Lake Tackle.

Saturday weather was much better.  We had mild winds and were able to fish where we wanted and how we wanted.  Lots of fish brought to the scales.  Fish were caught in 2 to 26 ft of water on a variety of baits from soft plastics to crankbaits.

Sunday was a completely different story.  The wind turned and blew from the SE at 29mph with gust up to 38mph.  There was no escape.  You either sucked it up and went for it, or you put the boat on the trailer and took it to the house.  Few showed for weigh-in, but those who weathered the wind brought fish to the scales.

Bob Kessler put a whoopin' on everyone using Slimy Slugs.  He also had a jar of orange crawfish smelly jelly with glitter that he smeared on the slugs to entice the bite.  I was told that these items are no longer manufactured and that Bob has had this stuff in his tackle bag since 1932.

Martin was not far behind.  Congratulations Martin!!!

Both fished deep water in the middle of creek channels guided by the Tauer boys.
